It's A Boy!

I could not be happier to announce that we are having a little boy! I have absolutely no clue what to do with a boy, but I'm sure I will learn quickly. David, my mom, and Linda (my mother-in-law) went to the ultrasound. When she told us it was a boy, Dave got really close to the computer screen then said, "Lock up your daughters!" Real nice. Mom, Linda, and I just cried...of course. The little man was squirming and flipping away, and he did the worm. Swear. He's definitely his father's son. The Vickery crew was a bit shocked by the news. I had to ask Mymama if she remembered how to make little boy's clothes (it's been QUITE awhile). Ginny and I went by Granddaddy's office to tell him the news and, after pounding his fits on the table, he shouted, "Glory Hallelujah! Praise God Almighty!" It was something to see, and I think he's pretty thrilled to have another boy in the family.

We just got back from Big David and Linda's where we picked up Dave's baby clothes. Linda made several of the outfits, and they are precious. I wasn't quite prepared to start learning about Lego's and monster trucks, but I will do anything for my little boy! I cannot wait to meet him.

Pregnancy

You hear a lot of stories about pregnant women. I always thought it meant you craved weird foods, you were tired more, and your stomach grew. Don't get me wrong, it does, but that's not the half of it! Up until about week 10 I was sick 3 times a day, every day. I am now 13 weeks, and life is much better. I still get sick occasionally, but I feel like a new woman. I am starting to get my energy back, which is nice. No one seems to tell you about the weird aches, pains, and cramps; the emotional roller coaster you are constantly riding (poor David); or the drastic ways your body changes. I know when I see that precious baby, everything will be worth it, but it has been quite a trip!

A couple of weeks ago, we found out that Morgan (my sister) is going to have a baby too! I could not be happier to know that my little one will have an automatic best friend, and I have someone so close going on this journey with me. The babies will be 6 weeks apart, which is just incredible.

We go to the doctor in FOUR days to try to see if we are having a boy or girl! I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I go from being certain it's a boy to certain it's a girl about 3 times a week, so it will be a big surprise either way. You always hear people say that they don't care what sex their baby is as long as it is healthy. I couldn't agree more, although I'll have lots of learning to do with a little boy!

We went to the doctor last at 9 weeks, and this is what we saw:

I can't put into words how amazing it was to see an actual little baby squirming around and waving his/her little arms. The sonogram technician (Ashley-who we LOVE) zoomed in so we could see little fingers. Truly incredible. At 7 weeks the heart rate was 122, which was a little slow. This time it was 167-just beating away! I'll never forget hearing that sound.
