Little Movements

Two weekends ago during Callie's bachelorette party

I thought I felt a little flutter. I was only 15 weeks, 5 days at the time, so I didn't think it could possibly be the baby... well, it was! I have now felt him a couple more times, and it's incredible. I can't wait until Dave can feel him, and I start to feel him more. He is such an amazing gift. By the way, Callie's bachelorette was a blast! We went to Nashville and as you can see, everyone had a very good time. Her big day is getting close, and I am so excited for her and Stuart.

Dave came home from the golf course today going on and on about seeing a dad with his young son out hitting balls. He was saying how he couldn't wait to take Mills out to do stuff like that. It is so sweet to see him get excited about our baby. We both are so anxious to meet the little guy.

High School Shower

This past weekend my high school friends (plus Ashley Ashwander) were sweet enough to throw Caroline and me a joint baby shower. We had so much fun, and I cried through most of it. It is still hard to believe I am actually having a baby! The shower was the day before Easter, and we had it in Margaret's guest house. It couldn't have been more perfect. The weather was gorgeous, and there is nothing like getting together with that group of girls. I feel so honored that Mills will have such great "aunts", and I couldn't be happier that he will have such wonderful people in his life.

It's A Boy!

I could not be happier to announce that we are having a little boy! I have absolutely no clue what to do with a boy, but I'm sure I will learn quickly. David, my mom, and Linda (my mother-in-law) went to the ultrasound. When she told us it was a boy, Dave got really close to the computer screen then said, "Lock up your daughters!" Real nice. Mom, Linda, and I just cried...of course. The little man was squirming and flipping away, and he did the worm. Swear. He's definitely his father's son. The Vickery crew was a bit shocked by the news. I had to ask Mymama if she remembered how to make little boy's clothes (it's been QUITE awhile). Ginny and I went by Granddaddy's office to tell him the news and, after pounding his fits on the table, he shouted, "Glory Hallelujah! Praise God Almighty!" It was something to see, and I think he's pretty thrilled to have another boy in the family.

We just got back from Big David and Linda's where we picked up Dave's baby clothes. Linda made several of the outfits, and they are precious. I wasn't quite prepared to start learning about Lego's and monster trucks, but I will do anything for my little boy! I cannot wait to meet him.

Pregnancy

You hear a lot of stories about pregnant women. I always thought it meant you craved weird foods, you were tired more, and your stomach grew. Don't get me wrong, it does, but that's not the half of it! Up until about week 10 I was sick 3 times a day, every day. I am now 13 weeks, and life is much better. I still get sick occasionally, but I feel like a new woman. I am starting to get my energy back, which is nice. No one seems to tell you about the weird aches, pains, and cramps; the emotional roller coaster you are constantly riding (poor David); or the drastic ways your body changes. I know when I see that precious baby, everything will be worth it, but it has been quite a trip!

A couple of weeks ago, we found out that Morgan (my sister) is going to have a baby too! I could not be happier to know that my little one will have an automatic best friend, and I have someone so close going on this journey with me. The babies will be 6 weeks apart, which is just incredible.

We go to the doctor in FOUR days to try to see if we are having a boy or girl! I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I go from being certain it's a boy to certain it's a girl about 3 times a week, so it will be a big surprise either way. You always hear people say that they don't care what sex their baby is as long as it is healthy. I couldn't agree more, although I'll have lots of learning to do with a little boy!

We went to the doctor last at 9 weeks, and this is what we saw:

I can't put into words how amazing it was to see an actual little baby squirming around and waving his/her little arms. The sonogram technician (Ashley-who we LOVE) zoomed in so we could see little fingers. Truly incredible. At 7 weeks the heart rate was 122, which was a little slow. This time it was 167-just beating away! I'll never forget hearing that sound.

We Are Pregnant!

We found out at the beginning of January (at my niece, Virginia's, 2nd birthday party at Chuck-E-Cheese) that we are going to have a little one. Yes, Chuck-E-Cheese. We were running late to Virginia's party, when I started feeling extremely nauseous. We stopped and picked up a test, then rushed to the party. Neither one of us could stand to wait until we left to take it. I'll never forget seeing Dave standing by the ski-ball game and nodding my head yes slowly in disbelief. I'm pretty sure his mouth hit the floor. We told Mammie, Papa, and MoMo at the party then left to tell Dave's family. I was only about 3 weeks pregnant at the time, but Mammie told the whole world. We didn't mind...we couldn't quite hold the news in ourselves. After the initial shock wore off, we were ecstatic.

So that began this chapter in our lives. It has been the most exciting, nerve-wracking, and emotional time of our lives. I can't believe in 7 short months I will be a mom. It is mind blowing. I absolutely cannot wait to meet the little person growing inside of me. I am due September 20th and am counting down the minutes! It's going to be one hot summer.
